Project: Voiceover Studio for Platige Image S. A.
Scope of work: pre-construction measurements, design of sound insulation and acoustic adaptation, supervision of construction, post-construction measurements
Introduction
Platige Image SA, a leading company in film post-production and animation, decided to build a sound studio dedicated to voiceover recordings, voice work, and sound post-production. Due to the challenging geometry of the room, it was crucial to develop a comprehensive sound insulation and acoustic adaptation plan that accounted for both the recording requirements and the surrounding environment—nearby offices and conference rooms.
Scope of work and project timeline
Pre-construction measurements
The project began with precise acoustic measurements to thoroughly understand the unique spatial conditions of the room. The main challenges included the room’s geometry and its proximity to office spaces and conference rooms. It was essential not only to create an acoustically neutral recording environment but also to ensure adequate sound insulation.
Sound insulation and acoustic treatment design
The studio was divided into three distinct areas, carefully designed in terms of their dimensions and mutual proportions:
- The voiceover booth – dedicated to voice recordings
- The control room – designed for post-production and editing
- The entrance corridor
Sound insulation was a key element, particularly concerning the adjacent office and conference spaces. To achieve full isolation, we implemented:
- Double, independent insulating walls using a lightweight construction with special rubber membranes to prevent sound transmission between rooms.
- Fully decoupled and specially designed floor layers placed on an independent floating slab, which further enhanced isolation from structural vibrations and impact noise.
- Independent acoustic doors, ensuring maximum isolation between spaces and preventing structural noise transmission.
- A silent and independent ventilation and air conditioning system, allowing simultaneous operation of the studio and recording sessions without noise interference.
For acoustic treatment, we incorporated:
- Tuned bass traps to minimize unwanted low-frequency resonances.
- Wall-mounted stretched fabric systems, concealing resonant and broadband absorptive elements.
- This solution provided broad-frequency absorption while maintaining a clean aesthetic.
- A highly absorptive acoustic ceiling, which helped eliminate the “sound lensing” effect caused by the room’s geometry

Visual and functional aspects
The studio’s design had to align with the company’s aesthetics. The selected materials not only met acoustic requirements but also contributed to a modern and cohesive visual space. The stretched fabric system allowed for the concealment of most technical acoustic elements, preserving a minimalistic and polished interior.
Supervision of construction
We closely monitored each phase of the installation process, placing particular emphasis on the precision of sound insulation implementation. Attention to detail was critical to ensure full compliance with the design and the maximum efficiency of the applied insulation solutions. This was especially important for construction joints, sealing, and the installation of independent walls and doors.

Post-construction measurements
Upon project completion, we conducted detailed post-construction measurements, confirming that the studio met all design specifications for both sound insulation and internal acoustics. The results validated that the space was ideal for voiceover recordings and sound post-production work.
Outcome
Thanks to the implementation of advanced technical solutions and meticulous execution, the voiceover studio at Platige Image SA meets the highest acoustic standards. The studio not only provides exceptional conditions for voice recordings but is also fully acoustically isolated from its surroundings. The project was successfully completed, and the space is now actively used for both voiceover sessions and post-production work.
